行通济是佛山一年一度盛大的文化活动！这一传统民俗延续了400多年，从明末清初开始，每逢正月十五、十六，佛山家家户户都会扶老携幼“行通济”。

“Crossing Tongji Bridge” is an annual grand cultural event in Foshan! This traditional folk custom has lasted for more than 400 years, which began in the late Ming and early Qing Dynasty. On every 15th and 16th day of the first lunar month, almost every family in Foshan would cross the Tongji Bridge with the elderly and children. 

元宵节当晚，几十万人齐集佛山通济桥前，呼朋唤友，或者一家老小，每人手持一架小风车，汇入拥挤的人潮，施施然迈过通济桥牌坊，口中默念“行通济，冇闭翳”，祈求来年平平安安、顺顺利利。

At Lantern Festival's evening, hundreds of thousands of people flock to the front of the Tongji Bridge with friends or families. Each of them hold a small windmill and walk slowly across the bridge, speaking “Crossing Tongji Bridge, Troubles Go Away” to pray for peace in the coming year.

行通济，这项全城参与的民俗文化活动，以它独特的魅力，吸引越来越多的中外友人前来感受佛山独特的岭南文化魅力，同时将佛山文化推广至世界，擦亮佛山传统文化的品牌，搭起一座友谊之桥。

With its unique charm, Crossing Tongji Bridge, a folk cultural activity in which the whole city participates, has not only attracted more and more Chinese and foreign friends to experience Foshan's unique Lingnan culture, but also sent Foshan culture to other places, which will polish the brand of Foshan's traditional culture and build a bridge of friendship.

今年行通济有这些亮点

今年行通济活动前夕，“行通济 无闭翳”岭南欢乐游园会将于农历正月十四（2月18日）下午在岭南天地鲤鱼广场举行。市民可体验捞金鱼、套圈圈、抛硬币、砸罐子、猜灯谜、投壶等活动，重温儿时欢乐时光。

On the eve of the “Crossing Tongji Bridge” activities this year, the Lingnan Garden Party will be held in the Carp Square, Lingnan Tiandi in the afternoon of February 18th. The public can experience activities such as fishing goldfish, tossing coins, guessing riddles, and throwing pots to review childhood joyous time.

在行通济期间，佛山传统习俗也将被注入新的内涵，增添暖心的温度。2月19日下午，2019“温爱佛山——元宵慈善文化人人行”系列活动将举行，通济桥将成为传递爱心和欢乐的海洋。

During the Lantern Festival, Foshan traditional custom is infused with new connotations and the warmth of charity. In the afternoon of February 2nd,  “Foshan in Warm Love, Charitable Cultural Parade" series of activities will be conducted, which will make Tongji Bridge turn into a sea of love and joy.

此外，行通济交通管制、公交绕行、摊位设置方案早前也出炉啦，其中8条公路全封闭，72条公交要绕行，快收好交通攻略~

行通济小知识

佛山人“行通济”，最大的特色就是要带风车、风铃、生菜等吉祥物。

The distinctive feature of “Crossing Tongji Bridge” is to bring windmills, wind bell, lettuce and other mascots.

带生菜是“行通济”素有的习俗。生菜被叫做“胜意菜”，行完通济，买扎生菜带回家，寓意新的一年万事胜意，继续生财。

Bringing lettuce is a common custom of crossing Tongji Bridge. Lettuce(生菜) stands for making money in Chinese. Tourists can take lettuce back home after crossing the bridge, which means taking money home.

风车，寓意时来运转，一帆风顺；与风车一样，风铃也有着好的寓意，预示走完通济桥，能够招来福音。

Windmills implies smooth sailing and good luck, while wind bells have a good moral of bringing gospel after crossing the Tongji Bridge.

不过，“行通济”还有一些禁忌，例如不要逆行，不要回头拍照，否则不吉利；不抛生菜与纸钱，而是把生菜带回家，寓意着“引财归家”……这些你都记住了吗？

However, there are some taboos when you cross Tongji Bridge. For example, don’t take two-way route with a return. Otherwise, it’s unlucky. Also, it is inadvisable for tourists to throw lettuce and paper money. Insteadly, tourists should take lettuce back home after crossing the bridge, having the meaning of "bringing money home".
